CHILD SAFETY

Toorak Basketball Club strongly believes in providing a safe, enriching and inclusive environment for all our players and team staff. Therefore, the safety and well-being of all our members is our number one priority.

Everyone who participates in our club must adhere to our codes of conduct which are modelled after the codes of conduct from Basketball Victoria (BV). Additionally as a sporting club we are passionate in adhering to the 10 National Child Safety standards as per ChildSafe Australia to empower us to keep children safe whilst playing basketball.

All adults working with children under the age of 18 are required to hold a current Working with Children Check (WWCC). This means all our adult club volunteers, coaches, team managers and our club board are required to hold a valid WWCC. This is free and at no cost and you can apply for one here: https://www.vic.gov.au/working-with-children-check

The club has nominated a Child Safety Officer (CSO) to ensure our ongoing commitment to the importance of Child Safety. The Child Safety Officer is a club volunteer committed to ensuring policies and procedures are regularly reviewed and updated. The CSO is also responsible for identifying and managing risk relating to child safety within the club. This means the CSO is available to discuss and clarify any issues raised by any member of the club. All members of the Toorak Basketball Club can speak with the CSO if they have any questions, concerns or want to make a report in relation to child safety and where appropriate the CSO will follow any necessary requirement or policy that requires implementing.

The Child Safety Officer (CSO) is currently SY Tan and can be contacted at cso@toorakbasketball.org.au

Alternatively a Child Safe Incident Report Form can be completed for the CSO to address. If you believe any child is at imminent risk of harm, please contact 000.
